Samsung’s plentiful plethora of products are often enticing potential purchases people, but those that love having the latest and greatest Android OS variant typically spurn all but Nexus devices. Indeed the formal naming of Android N is coming very soon – and within a few months, so too is the formal product roll-out itself, expected in October. Still, many people are waiting for last year’s Marshmallow to roll-out, even if it is almost 8 months after Google’s launch.

Samsung, itself no stranger to delays and dismays when it comes to OS updates, is now making with Marshmallow for customers that are using its new Galaxy On series. Specifically, the Galaxy On7 is getting Marshmallow (6.0.1). Alas it’s only going to be releasing – for the time being – in Turkey. The new build is coded G600FXXU1APF8.

While those in other regions with the device will be possibly panicked at the news, this pattern is fairly standard. OEMs typically release new firmware in waves so as to reduce side effects from surver overloads or bricking the product in the process.

Marshmallow

Originally released to the market last October, Android Version 6, known by its dessert-themed moniker Marshmallow, brings with it numerous features to Google’s mobile OS. One is Now On Tap which scans your current screen image for relevant information, Android Doze, which opts to better manage power usage during device downtime, and granular App Permissions that give you more control over what access your apps have to your phone and files.

Please note that if the update is not pushed to your phone, it can be manually triggered by heading to Settings, About Device, and then System Updates. Note that even this process is not entirely perfect and it may ultimately take some days or weeks before your specific unit is eligible to receive the update.
