I personally use Black Friday each year to replace our PlayStation 4 controllers

There are a lot of amazing PlayStation 4 controllers on the market, and the DualShock 4 is not one of them — even when some of my colleagues would differ. Still, I know premium controllers a tough sell to people when they reach up to $200. We completely agree. I don’t have $200 to spare on the controller all the time, which is why I use Black Friday to upgrade.

Black Fri gives me the perfect excuse to spend a little more money than I usually would have whilst still getting a great deal. Even if the particular controller isn’t discounted, you can usually pick up a free gift card yet another offer with your purchase to make it very much more enticing.

Anyone who knows myself knows how stingy We am. I don’t spend money frivolously. However, with regards to game controllers, I can’t settle for everything less than the best. One of the reasons I improved to an Xbox One over a Ps 4 at the start of the generation has been because of its controller.

When it comes to game controllers, I can’t accept anything less than the best.

I’m fortunate enough to have an Astro C40 TR, Scuf Vantage, and Razer Raiju Ultimate thanks to my work. What I’d like to get next will be the Razer Raiju Tournament Edition. This may seem like a slight downgrade from exactly what I’m currently using, but I believe it suits me perfectly.

I’ve been using the Astro C40 TR as my main PS4 controller lately because I could exchange the D-pad and left thumbstick modules to create an asymmetrical design seen on Xbox controllers. Because wonderful as that Astro control is, I find myself lacking the feel of my Razer Raiju Ultimate. My biggest problem with the Ultimate: It only has a shaped thumbstick layout. This is rectified within the Competition Edition. The fact that the Tournament Edition also happens to be cheaper is really a bonus.

And if you normally are not as picky as me, you may still find other great options that you can improve to. Hori’s officially licensed Onyx controller can be brought for under half the price of what Astro or even Scuf offer.

For anyone looking for an extra control in addition to the main one they use, that is when I’d recommend picking up the DualShock 4. It’s one of the least expensive options available, and it comes in some pretty awesome colors that a lot of people like to gather. I have the blue Days of Perform DualShock 4 controller, and I certainly recommend getting a controller other than dull black.

I’m not going to lay, I have mixed feelings about Black Friday — and capitalism — yet I digress. It will always be scummy to me, but I’m also of course a hypocrite and will shop onto it when I can save money.
